Introducing Verdexium

Overview

Sellmark Corporation has announced the groundbreaking of Verdexium, a 450,000 sq. ft. multi-phase innovation and manufacturing center located on a 25-acre site in Mansfield, Texas. Scheduled to begin construction in April 2025, Verdexium is engineered to accelerate the commercialization of American-made products by directly addressing the manufacturing and scalability challenges faced by startups, small manufacturers, and high-compliance industries.

Mission and Focus Areas

The center’s mission is to reduce the traditional startup-to-market timeline from over seven years to as little as one to three years. This will be achieved by consolidating critical infrastructure, state-of-the-art equipment, expert networks, and commercialization support under one roof. Verdexium will focus on advancing sectors including defense, aerospace, biomedical, and rugged outdoor manufacturing.

Challenges Addressed

Verdexium targets systemic challenges in U.S. manufacturing and innovation. Startups face high capital barriers to entry, limited access to prototyping tools, and inefficient pathways to scaling and market entry. In parallel, overreliance on overseas suppliers—particularly in China—has exposed vulnerabilities such as trade disruptions, intellectual property theft, and a lack of domestic flexibility. Moreover, many startups operate in isolation, with limited access to trained labor, strategic partners, or integrated infrastructure. Workforce development remains misaligned with modern industrial demands.

Facility Design

The first phase of Verdexium includes a two-story facility. The ground floor will accommodate heavy equipment and advanced manufacturing processes, while the second floor will house prototyping labs, testing facilities, engineering workspaces, and collaborative offices. An AI-integrated, glass-walled manufacturing lab will serve as an educational and demonstration space for students and visitors. The site will be a cornerstone of Mansfield’s “The Link” innovation corridor.

Technical Capabilities

Verdexium will offer advanced robotics and automation, CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing, electronics assembly and ruggedization, environmental testing, and access to a high-end materials library. These capabilities are geared toward enabling rapid prototyping, iterative design, and small-batch production.

Product Development Focus

The center is tailored for high-regulation, high-impact product sectors, including defense optics, aerospace components, biomedical devices, and rugged outdoor electronics. These industries benefit most from a centralized ecosystem that supports R&D, testing, and flexible production under one roof.

Partnerships and Collaboration

Sellmark is developing Verdexium in coordination with key regional and national partners, including the City of Mansfield, TMAC (Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center), Texas Workforce Commission, and several universities and technical colleges. Federal agencies such as the Economic Development Administration (EDA), Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DOE), and Small Business Administration (SBA) are also supporting the initiative. Verdexium will serve as a platform for investors, incubators, and workforce development partners.

Education and Workforce Training

Verdexium is committed to building a qualified workforce through student tours, industry exposure, and hands-on training in robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing. Upskilling programs will be tailored for tradespeople, technicians, and engineers to close the talent gap.

Strategic Impact

By consolidating the tools, infrastructure, and networks required to innovate and manufacture in one location, Verdexium aims to serve as a replicable model for regional innovation centers across the U.S. The center will play a critical role in government procurement, nearshoring, and national industrial resilience. It is expected to boost job creation and entrepreneurial activity across North Texas.

Why Mansfield

Located in the fast-growing Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, Mansfield offers logistical access to major North American supply chains and a rich pool of engineering and manufacturing talent. Verdexium aligns with national reshoring initiatives and regional development strategies, offering a scalable solution to restore and grow American manufacturing competitiveness.
